Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: I registered. Now what?
A: Print and fill out the Risk Form and Behavior Agreement Contract. Mail both forms along with the $85.00 Conference Fee (checks can be made out to HSLC) to:
Judy Been
Attn: HSLC
Student Government Association
1236 TAMU
127 John J. Koldus Building
College Station, TX 77843-1236
You will receive a confirmation email once we have received all the necessary paperwork.
Q: Do I need to go through my counselor or principal at my high school to sign up?
A: Nope, just register with us online and send in your risk form, behavoir agreement form, and conference fee by the deadline! Checks are made payable to HSLC.
Q: Who is the event open to?
A: HSLC is open for all high school juniors and seniors.
Q: Where will the event be held?
A: On the Campus of Texas A&M University. Most events will be in Rudder Tower, or the MSC (map, key). Lunches and dinners will be held in different areas, where students can see the true highlights of Texas A&M.
Q: Where will we be staying?
A: You will be staying with responsible A&M students in their dorm rooms, on campus. It would be a good idea to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow.
Q: Who is sponsoring this event?
A: High School Leadership Conference Organization within the Student Government Association at Texas A&M University.
Q: I came last year, can I come back?
A: YES! We would love to see you at our conference again.
Q: Can we leave early?
A: This must be discussed, and only with consent of the event Chair, and this must be cleared up before you attend the event.
Q: Do we have to pay now?
A: Yes. To ensure you have a spot reserved for you, your fees must be paid by the deadline posted on the registration page.
Q: What should we bring to wear?
A: Casual clothing and comfortable shoes; we will be moving around and doing some walking. There will be a mixer with a theme, and it would be great if you dressed accordingly; if you’d rather not, that is fine, too!
Q: How many people can attend from each school?
A: Conference delegates are selected on a first come, first serve basis. Please send in your application as soon as possible to secure your registration.
Q: "Can we stay with someone else?" If we tell a HSLC member?
A: We do ask on-campus residents to be our hosts. If you would like to stay with someone on-campus, we urge you to get them to volunteer as a host. Please let us know before the conference if you prefer to stay with a specific host.
Q: Will we need money?
A: Not really. The $85.00 will cover housing, and food for the weekend. But you may want to do some shopping at the gift shop before you leave, or grab some snacks along the way, so bring some cash just to be prepared!
Q: If I am driving myself, where will we park for the weekend?
A: Parking areas will be available at no additional cost. Committee Members will help to direct you to the parking areas and escort you to the location of the conference in the Memorial Student Center.
