FAQ about Hosting

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  1. When is the Conference? The conference dates have not yet been determined for 2009.

  2. Duties of being a host? You will provide a place for two delegates to stay Friday and Saturday night and drop the delegates off early and pick up the delegates late. It is not too much of a time constraint.

  3. How do I become a host? You need to turn in the Host contract and Background check forms.

  4. Do I need to attend any mandatory informationials?  Yes you must attend one host informational the week before conference (about 1 hour long)

  5. What about the IPOD?  You have about a 1 in 60 chance of winning an Ipod (all host names will "go in a hat")!

  6. Any other Perks to be a host? Of course!  Free breakfast of fruit and pastries on Sunday of the conference; easy and not time consuming; and best of all, share your aggie pride, etc. with some fun high school juniors and seniors!

  7. Where do I turn in forms?  Drop box labeled "High School Leadership Conference" in Student Activites Department in Koldus building. The boxes are located to the right of the help desk. Information is also on website. Also, we will have a sign-up table in the commons during the last week of October.

  8. Can hosts participate in conference?  Only HSLC members can participate in our daily activities, but hosts do get to participate by having quality one-on-one time with their delegates.

  9. How can my H.S. brother/sister register?  They can register at hslc.tamu.edu.

  10. Do I have to provide bedding for the delegates? Nope, they bring their own sleeping bags, etc.

  11. I can't be a host because I am doing FLO BOWL.  Actually, hosting will not interfere because hosts drop delegates off early Saturday morning and pick them up late Saturday night.
